For many years I carried the Columbus Citizen–later Citizen-Journal–out of the carrier building near N. High St. and Henderson Road. It was the worst route in Beechwold as it was the furthest north and had the fewest subscribers. The ABC Motor Court had taken five introductory subscriptions, 35-cents a week, including Sunday!–yet never wanted to pay the full amount, 5-cents daily, 25-cents Sunday–when the intoduction period expired. To this day, I remember the address 5050 N. High as I always thought there was only a 50-50 chance of getting paid. I don’t have fond memories of the ol’ ABC Motor Court but maybe it inspired something as I eventually spent 40+ years in the hotel industry from entry-level jobs at the Hospitality Inn at I-71 @ SR161 to various corporate and executive positions with worldwide hotel chains.
