My grandfather, Frank Leroy Brevoort, Sr., ran a dairy for a time. He was listed as a retail milk merchant in the 1910 census, but not in 1920. As a child, I remember getting eggs from the chick roost at the north end of the barn but the cows were long gone.

His wife, Dorothea Susanna (Mackensen) Brevoort, sold fancy koi (Japanese goldfish) which were raised in the ponds. In winter, they were moved to a large tub next to the house so they wouldn't freeze.

I grew up on Piedmont and I remember that there where a few ponds in the rear of the house. I also remember being yelled at for fishing in one with a friend. I think a lot of houses use to have ponds around here.

wow, historic clintonville stuff. . . .thank you!

no, it's all gone.

I grew up at 60 Brevoort rd and remember as a very young child in the seventies (I'm 45 now) rummaging around an old barn (against clear instructions from my parents not to) and the house (not the log cabin). I do have a few memories of it, for what it's worth....the house looked like it was abandoned quickly - unfinished puzzle in the breakfast nook. there was also lots of stuff in the barn, books, barrels - as someone who appreciates antiques, I often think how I wish I were older then and could have appreciated the old stuff.

definetly recall the gateposts onto High street
